Our name is a combination of two key elements defined by our location: Fort Ord, a sprawling former military training base which was decommissioned in 1994, after almost 90 years of existence, and Monterey Bay, the dominant geographic feature whose waters provide for stable and sunny weather year round. With an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit (or 20C) and very little rain, this location is ideal for film and video production.
Fort Bay Studio facilities, located just 8 miles West of California highway 101 - a key surface link connecting Los Angeles with San Jose and San Francisco - are situated within the peaceful and protected environment of former Fort Ord, in an ideal position for studio and back-lot production year-round.

Centrally positioned between cities of Salinas and Monterey, the studio facilities are located in the popular tourist area which is home to the population of almost 500,000 people, with excellent accommodations and good transportation links to a number of nearby communities:
5 miles to the city of Marina;
10 miles from the Salinas municipal airport;
15 miles from the city of Monterey and Monterey Regional Airport;
20 miles from the enchanted village of Carmel-by-the-Sea;
40 miles from the city of Santa Cruz, and
45 miles from Big Sur, South on CA-1 along the most picturesque section of the California coast.
